Burnout
« As much as I deeply love my father, sometimes I no longer have the energy to care for him. I can become irritable, lose my patience, and then I feel guilty. I'm so tired… I'm afraid I won't be able to keep going. »
No matter how much love we have for our loved one, our energy is not an inexhaustible resource. Between work, daily tasks, family responsibilities, and caregiving, we can quickly feel out of breath if we do not put measures in place to preserve our energy.
In this video, Anne-Jennifer, a caregiver, shares with us exactly how this role led her to slide toward burnout. In response to this testimony, Jiri Snitil, Executive Director of Groupe des aidants du Sud-Ouest (GASO), presents the signs and risks associated with burnout to help us recognize whether we are burning out.
This is an essential first step in taking care of our health and preserving our ability to help. Practical tools are also offered to help us better navigate these roles and to remind us of the importance of taking care of ourselves.
This capsule is for you if you are a caregiver and:
